The Himalayas is perhaps as much if not more about the communities and village settlements that surround its iconic mountains. Through the years of our exploration we have been inspired to bring our travellers closer to the lives of the several different cultures and communities that are distinct to this region.
We are now offering guided travel and stay experiences curated around select villages, homestays and guesthouses in the Himalayas. You get to experience the Himalayas in a comfortable yet genuinely realistic way, just as the locals would like to share it. These are experiences designed and led entirely by the people belonging to that region and are offered only during certain months on a customised basis.
Annapurna – Village Immersion with Badri & Bhim
The village settlements around the Annapurna are unique in how they have built up a sustainable ecosystem in arguably some of the most picturesque settings. This is a remarkable experience by itself or can be added to any other travel in the region. Our itinerary has been designed by our local guides Badri and Bhim and involves travelling a short distance from Pokhara and staying a couple of nights each in well appointed homestays in the villages of Ghachok and Kaskikot. We see the village eco-system up close through farming practices, farm to table meals while also enjoying walks in paddy fields and hiking up to get the sunrise and sunset from different vantage points. This is a great experience for anyone eager to see the big mountains and experience the Himalayan culture authentically.
Months Available – March, April, October, November, December.
Ladakh -Tingmosgang Village with Angmo
Tingmosgang is a quaint village a short drive from Leh Airport,Ladakh. It is the home of our friend and colleague Angmo, who guides our Ladakh local experiences. Angmo has designed a 5 day itinerary that involves staying with her incredible family in their warm and hospitable homestay. She is keen to share her life in the village and this involves going on long village walks, meeting the village elders, watching the sunset from the Temisgam monastery, harvesting apricots, walnuts and also helping her family out in the kitchen to cook a delicious ladakhi meal. This experience is ideal for anyone looking for a quiet experience and keen to experience the Tibetea culture and their deep sense of compassion and altruism.
