Is this trek right for you ?

The Everest Base Camp trek requires a reasonably high level of functional fitness and the ability to deal with altitude. We  ascend through villages in the upper Khumbu gaining altitude gradually to acclimatise well. The second half of the trek requires trekking in altitudes above 4000 metres and tops off at the highest point of  the Kalapathar summit 5545, no mean climb. We require participants to consider preperation and medical suitability for this trek. Our stay is in teahouses along our route on a shared basis and there is a selection of foods and several bakeries along the route, beyond the local Nepali fare available, given that EBC is perhaps one of the most visited trails.

Things To Know before you go?

We help you plan the logistics and also support your preparation of the trek. Like most adventures, this one too is subject to the forces of nature and  requires a keen sense of openness to embrace the uncertainties that arise with being in the elements. The ability to integrate in a group and work as a team members towards a shared goal are of paramount importance. This means team members must be able to adapt to the dynamics of diversity and support each other. We are also mindful about the environment and do the best that we can to reduce our footprint ie avoid wasting food and water and reducing ‘our trash impact’ whereever possible. Our stay is in simple teahouses with very basic facilities  and wi-fi and electricity are available but can also be down at times.

Why First Light

Small group travel that is local, reponsible and takes everyone along. Our itineraries are put together to authentically offer a unique experience for our co-travellers. This almost always involves a different way of going on a popular adventure or very simply taking the lesser travelled road. Our guides, porters are friends whom we have travelled with over the years and we value them as fellow adventurers without whom our adventures are genuinely incomplete.
